Mangia in the News: St. Louis Business Journal Introduces “Blue Note Express”

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on April 1, 2010 by Shindig

In a recent article, the St. Louis Business Journal introduced Mangia’s newest service, “Blue Note Express,” which will bring Mangia’s text-based delivery service to the Scottrade Center, home of the St. Louis Blues.

Mangia launched last year with RSLexpress at Rio Tinto Stadium, where heavy fan support propelled Real Salt Lake to its first MLS Championship. Hundreds of fans signed up to order concessions and merchandise from their seats, leading to a renewed contract with the stadium. Mangia is also available at Atlanta’s Philips Arena, where the NBA Hawks and NHL Thrashers compete, according to the article.

Dave Checketts, chairman of  SCP Worldwide, which owns the St. Louis Blues and Real Salt Lake, touted the technology to a group of entrepreneurs and investors at the InvestMidwest venture capital conference on March 25 in St. Louis. “It’s hard to depend every night on winning and losing,” he told them. “Technologies can help make the live game experience better.”

Several other professional sports franchises have expressed interest in the service, the article reported, and the Mangia team hopes to take it to stadiums and arenas across the country.

Real Salt Lake Trades Seitz in Deal with Philadelphia Union

Posted in RSL News with tags , on December 1, 2009 by Shindig

In its second round of roster decisions for the upcoming 2010 season, Real Salt Lake acquired allocation money from MLS’ newest expansion team, the Philadelphia Union, in exchange for goalie Chris Seitz.

RSL General manager Garth Lagerwey praised Seitz, noting the difficulty in letting him go.

“Firstly, we would like to thank Chris for his three years of exemplary service on behalf of Real Salt Lake and wish him all the best on this next step in his career,” Lagerwey said in an official release. “His professionalism and tremendous talent made this a very difficult move for us to make, however, we felt it was time to do right by Chris and allow him this opportunity to achieve a starting position within Major League Soccer. With the trade also giving our Technical Staff added resources to improve our roster this offseason, we believe the deal is a win for both sides.”

The Philadelphia Union will make its debut next spring as the 16th team to join the MLS.

After making the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, the scrappy Real Salt Lake team clinched the Eastern Conference Final in a tight game against the Chicago Fire. Real Salt Lake initially won a playoff bid in a wild card, having tied with two other teams for the last slot. RSL won a two-game series against last year’s winner, the Columbus Crew to advance to the Eastern Conference Final where they defeated Chicago in penalty kicks. RSL will face the LA Galaxy in Seattle on Nov. 21 to determine the MLS champion.
